China’s First Atlantis Resort Opens In Tropical Sanya

Atlantis Sanya, the flagship resort on beautiful Hainan Island, opened its doors. The much-anticipated opening of China’s first integrated entertainment resort is set to enhance Hainan’s incredible tourism proposition. Located on the Haitang Bay National Coast, it is the first Atlantis resort in China, joining the flagship Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai as well as The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences in Dubai and Atlantis, Ko Olina in Hawaii, both currently in development.

Owned by Chinese conglomerate Fosun Group and managed by US-based resort developer Kerzner International, the Atlantis Sanya resort is estimated to have cost US$1.63 billion and has been in development since October 2013.

Atlantis Sanya encompasses 540,000 square meters of unparalleled excitement: overlooking the South China Sea, the 1,300-room resort features underwater hotel suites, a massive Atlantis-themed waterpark and marine exhibits with 86,000 species, including dolphins, exploration of the ancient Atlantis civilization at The Lost Chambers Aquarium.

The resort have 21 different restaurants, cafes, lounges, and bars that include the signature Ossiano Underwater Restaurant and Bar, as well as celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s awarding winning Bread Street Kitchen and Bar.

“The growth potential of Sanya and the entire island of Hainan is tremendous, and we believe that the number of visitors, our perfect location in Haitang Bay, and warm weather are the key reasons to launch this first Atlantis resort in Sanya,” said managing director Heiko Schreiner.
