Watches and Wonders, the industry’s biggest trade show, has returned. Hublot expands the collection of its watch shapes with the new Square Bang Unico. Five new square models inspired by the Maison’s iconic Big Bang now joins their round watches, barrel-shaped watches and MPs, their uniquely shaped Master Pieces made from curves and corners on two different planes.
“The square watch is a very specific object that most watchmakers dare not tackle. This is a divisive, disruptive, and unconventional shape that no one has known how to rework for decades: it was just waiting for us!” notes Ricardo Guadalupe, the CEO of Hublot. “Hublot decided to get to grips with the shape in order to explore its power and create a totally unique timepiece.”
Hublot was challenged to place its round in-house Unico movement harmoniously in a square case. It is not by chance that in most square or rectangular watches, movements are hidden. Hublot took the challenge and, having found a consistent aesthetic style, decided to showcase both sides of its in-house HUB1280 Unico movement, a 354-component automatic chronograph beating at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour).
The five 42 mm models range from solid titanium, black ceramic, King Gold, and titanium or King Gold blend with a black ceramic bezel. The watch comes on a new strap decorated with ‘chocolate squares’. Thanks to its interchangeable (One Click) system, you can change the look of the watch in one click with an impressive range of Rubber, Alligator, and soon soft-touch leather straps.
Most notably, the Square Bang Unico All Black is limited to just 250 pieces as the only limited edition of the new collection. Discover Opulent Club on Apple news.
