Mercedes-Maybach Unveils All-Electric EQS 680 Luxury SUV

Mercedes-Maybach has revealed its first all-electric series model, the EQS 680 SUV, which combines the technology of the EQS SUV from Mercedes-EQ with the exclusivity of Maybach.

It is predictably fancy inside and out, with the option of Maybach’s signature two-tone paint on the outside and a sumptuously overblown interior.  The interior is elegant with a deep blue color scheme and many exclusive features, including an animated instrument cluster in “MAYBACH” mode. The rear seats are as high-spec as the fronts – you get heating, ventilation and massage functions as standard all round. The heating extends as far as your neck and shoulders for maximum cosiness.  The vehicle comes with standard MBUX Hyperscreen and Mercedes-Maybach-specific start-up animations on all three displays.

The vehicle is the first from Mercedes-Benz to be fitted with vegetable-tanned leather, using coffee bean shells as tanning agents and a closed-circuit water system for reduced environmental impact.  For an even more sophisticated look, Maybach MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather is available as an option in crystal white/silver grey pearl.

The Mercedes star on the hood and the front has a black panel with chrome-plated trim strips. The radar sensor is integrated and not visible. The side features chrome surrounds on the windows, a Maybach emblem on the D-pillar, and pronounced wheel arches with high-gloss black claddings. The rear has a continuous light strip with a two-part helix and chrome trim elements, as well as the Maybach lettering. The two-tone paintwork is available in five color combinations. Digital light welcomes and says goodbye to the driver with a special light show. The luxury SUV sits on exclusive 21 or 22-inch alloy and forged wheels.

The EQS 680 SUV delivers on the power front, with a whopping 484kW and 700 lb ft torque on tap; that makes it good for a 0-62mph spring in just 4.4sec. An astonishing figure for a car which is likely to weigh a lot more than the standard EQS SUV, which tips the scales at 2800kg.  With the same dual motor set-up and 108.4kWh battery as the EQS 580, the luxury Maybach offers a range of up to 373 miles – that’s five miles less than the standard car. A 10-80% charge using a fast charger takes around 31 minutes.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV sets a new benchmark in the all-electric luxury SUV segment, combining the best technologies from Mercedes-Benz with the extra comfort and individual details that are only available from Mercedes-Maybach. With its focus on luxury, digital innovation, and sustainability, the EQS 680 SUV represents the future of the luxury automotive market.
